I'm Free

May he rest in peace.

Don't grieve for me for now, I'm free
I'm following the path God has laid you see
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A sunshine shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh, yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tommorrow.
My life's been full, I've savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed to brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee,
God wanted me now, he set me free.

All those who were lucky enough to have known my dad know how simple and gentlemanly he always was. He devoted his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. -- Daddy, we will always appreciate this and never forget you. And we will never, ever be afraid to die because we know that you will be waiting for us in Heaven.

The death of my father, Daulton Golemon -- proper gentleman, exemplary family man -- is very painful for this family and it will hurt us forever; but we are comforted by having been a part of that life, by the knowledge that he did not have to suffer a painful death, and by the fact that we were all able to be by his side during his final days and moments on this earth.

My father was not a great politician, nor a statesman, public figure, wealthy man, a thinker or scientist. He never held a high level position or royal title. But in spite of not being or having any of those things, in reality he was and had all of them, because my father was the greatest thing a man can aspire to be, and that is simply: A GOOD MAN. Today, Heaven is a better place because of my father's presence there.

Daulton Golemon's legacy on this earth is his family, alongside a woman that is as good as he was. I will always treasure in my heart the years that I spent at home with my family. My sister and I had the best of two worlds and it will live in our children and daddys light will always shine brightly through us, the ones that loved him. He has set the precedent for our lives and we will carry them through.

Finally, we thank the Lord for not only having given us such a good husband, father and papa, but also for the time that we were given to get used to the idea that he was not going to be with us forever. If he had left us back in last year, without recovering from his surgery this would have been much more difficult for us.

Together, we witnessed the mercy with which the Lord took him, and we thank God for having given us the opportunity to take care of him during his final illness. And now, the only thing that remains for us is to try to follow his example and to deserve the honor of being his legacy.

We love you daddy. May you rest in peace.
